The Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is gearing up to promote the construction of projects and it aims to complete over 15 of them, worth 100 million yuan ($13.77 million) each this year.
Recently, at the construction site of the fourth phase project of Jiangsu Sunpower Co Ltd, workers were organizing the installation of pulping equipment, which is the first process of lithium battery production.
With a total investment of 3.2 billion yuan, the project aims to introduce five automatic intelligent production lines.
"Other equipment will be in place from late June to early July and the project is expected to be in pilot production from the end of October to early November," said Liu Wei, the manager in charge of the construction site.
On reaching full capacity, it's projected to produce 500 million high-rate cylindrical lithium batteries for electric tools annually and generate invoiced sales of 3.5 billion yuan.
Elsewhere, a steel strip plant for battery shells operated by Dongfang Ninesky, with a total investment of 3.07 billion yuan, is expected to start the second phase of construction soon.
Goals for the zone include to begin the construction of one project worth over 1 billion yuan, one project worth over 500 million yuan and one project worth over $30 million each quarter this year.
