The Taizhou food testing institute in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province has been holding a series of activities to promote food safety and the high-quality development of food industry.
On the World Food Safety Day on June 7, representatives of the institute visited local schools to share knowledge and conducted tests on vegetables and meat in various communities.
Staff members of the institute have also been helping enterprises to optimize their experimental processes and provided inspection training, said Huang Yinbo, president of the institute.
The institute has also helped enterprises with their technological transformation and capacity expansion, and offered advice on matters like raw material screening and product review preparation.
To date, the institute has helped local food enterprises solve more than 60 problems.
Taizhou is currently home to three food manufacturers – the most in the province – that produce formula food for special medical purposes.
"The institute has enhanced the construction of inspection and testing quality infrastructure to serve the development of the city's health sector,”noted Huang.
The institute has established the first provincial-level special medical food quality inspection center and the first provincial-level key laboratory for special medical food. These platforms have allowed companies that produce formula food for special medical purposes to reduce their testing fees by 50 percent and shorten the testing cycle from 35 days to 7 days.
