The landmark Jingtai Bridge in Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province and spanning a length of 1.12 kilometers – reopened to traffic on July 1.

Located to the south of the square in front of Taizhou Railway Station, the revamped bridge runs north to Zhanqian Road and south to Senyuan Road.

The bridge will become an important channel for traffic on both sides of the canal around the railway station and further improve the layout of the city's high-level waterway network.

The old Jingtai Bridge, opened in 2004, could only allow ships passing beneath it of below 300 metric tons. The reconstructed bridge can allow kiloton-level ships to sail smoothly under.

The revamp is said to bolster the traffic capacity of the Tongyang Line Channel – an important waterway for cargo and external connections in the central Jiangsu region.

Spanning nearly 300 km, the Tongyang Line Channel traverses Yangzhou, Taizhou and Nantong cities in the province and the Taizhou section boasts a length of 74 km.
