Launch of new system in Taicang speeds up goods transportation

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: August 1, 2024

The "Shanghai-Taicang Fast Passage System for Transport Vehicles", launched in July, has significantly improved the efficiency of goods transportation at the border of Shanghai and Taicang, a county-level city of Suzhou, Jiangsu province.

The system integrates operation, security checks, and data collection. It allows drivers to declare basic information such as vehicle, driver, escort, and cargo lists for pre-approval before they arrive at the checkpoints.

Since the launch of the new system, the average cross-provincial inspection time for transport vehicles has been reduced from 10 minutes to two minutes, and the traffic flow at the checkpoints has increased from 1,125 vehicles per hour to 1,347.

Taicang next plans to optimize the system and expand it to the ports of Changshu and Zhangjiagang, enhancing the efficiency of port truck traffic between Shanghai and Jiangsu and contributing to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
