2nd Suzhou (Taicang) aerospace conference opens

The second Suzhou (Taicang) aerospace conference was held in Taicang, a county-level city administered by Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 10. 

The conference was aimed at promoting the creation of the aviation and aerospace innovation clusters in Taicang and Suzhou. 

Wu Qingwen, deputy Party secretary of Suzhou, noted at the conference that Suzhou has in recent years been channeling resources towards fields such as large aircraft, general aviation, aviation intelligent equipment as part of efforts to build an aerospace power. 

He added that Suzhou will strive to create a conducive environment to attract more quality projects related to aerospace. 

As of the end of 2021, 250 aerospace enterprises with a combined annual output value of 35 billion yuan ($4.9 billion) had been set up in Suzhou. 

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, said that Taicang has over the past few years been focusing on areas such as aviation precision parts, new aviation materials and avionics systems. He added that Taicang is also planning to build a 2,740-mu (182.67 hectares) aerospace industrial park.

The city is currently home to more than 100 aerospace enterprises with a combined annual output value of 10 billion yuan. 

Deals for 34 projects with a combined investment of 10.67 billion yuan were signed at the conference. Twenty of these projects will be launched in Taicang. 

In addition, two innovation centers were unveiled at the conference.
