Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, launched a project on June 9 to provide free temporary accommodation for job seekers in the city.

Wang Zhaoyu, a graduate of Nanjing Agricultural University and Xie Jiaxin, a graduate of University of South China, were among the first group of people to benefit from the project.

The two men said that their online application for free accommodation was quickly approved, allowing them to quickly settle in the city that they are still unfamiliar with.

People that have a bachelor's degree or above and are aged under 45 years old can apply for free accommodation through WeChat mini-apps, according to the authorities.

These individuals can enjoy a maximum of three days of free accommodation at hotels or 15 days of free accommodation at apartments, according to the local government.

In addition, the city has been providing gift bags filled with items such as transportation cards and food coupons to young talents. Talents can also apply to receive a one-time allowance of 500 yuan ($74) when they first arrive in the city.

To date, more than 5,000 people have received this allowance.
