Take note of the new dos and don'ts on Suzhou subways

iSuzhou | Updated: April 3, 2020

The Measures for the Administration of Urban Railway and Passenger Transportation (hereafter referred to as the Measures) issued by the Ministry of Transport came into effect on April 1, 2020.

The Measures specify seven types of prohibited behavior that may undermine the smooth operation of railways, including begging, performing, playing audio out loud, and eating. In addition, 10 types of behavior that cause security risks have been banned.

Most of the new Measures are permanent and banned behavior includes the following:

Making noise on the subway or playing audio out loud;

Carrying items that have an unpleasant or irritating odor into the station and onto the subway;

Harassing other passengers in the station or on the subway;

Eating on the subway, aside from babies and the ill;

Bringing live poultry or pets into the station or on the subway, aside from guide dogs, police dogs, and military dogs

On April 1, Suzhou Rail Transit employees will intensify enforcement of the new Measures. Those failing to comply with the regulations will be ordered to correct their behavior; and those refusing to abide by the measures will be fined between 20 ($2.82) and 100 yuan.
