China Drama Art Festival to kick off in Suzhou
The 13th China Drama Art Festival will be held in Suzhou from November 9 to 25. It will attract 35 art groups to present 35 dramas at theaters in Suzhou.
The China Drama Art Festival is a national biennial show for dramatic art. It is also one of the highest level national cultural arts festivals. It has long been loved by the people and has attracted attention from both home and abroad. The festival is co-sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Theater Association and Suzhou municipal people’s government.
A total of 35 dramas across 27 types will be staged, not only Kun opera, Peking opera and Shaoxing opera familiar to people, but also Hanchu opera, Xiang opera, Hainan opera and Shaanxi opera featuring local styles. Twenty-nine dramas will participate in a drama competition, among which four of them hail from Suzhou. All of the dramas staged in Suzhou were selected from 169 dramas across the country. With more than 2,000 cast members, it will be the largest and most brilliant China Drama Art Festival ever.
Tickets range from 30 to 80 yuan ($4.90-$13.07). Tickets for students are 10 yuan. Tickets for the disabled and military personnel are free.
