First German-owned company in Taicang celebrates 20th anniversary
On September 21, Kern-Liebers (Taicang), the first German-owned company to settle in Taicang, celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting a traditional Family Day observed by many Western family enterprises. It invited about 600 employees and their family members to enjoy themselves and celebrate its achievements.
The company operates according to international standards and produces high-quality products. China has become its most important market apart from Europe, accounting for 11.8 percent of its total market. Kern-Liebers (China) has also grown over the years. In the near future, it will expand its factory to 10,000 square meters.
German-owned enterprises not only bring about advanced manufacturing techniques and green development concepts, but also promote the sustainable development of Taicang’s economy. Nearly 200 German-owned enterprises are located in the new district of Taicang. They have formed three pillar industries, including precision machinery manufacturing, auto parts manufacturing and wind power equipment manufacturing. The German enterprises utilize 2,000 mu (133.3 hectares) of land with 8.25 yuan ($1.35) in output value and 460,000 yuan in taxes per mu. The ratio of energy consumption per 10,000 yuan output value is only 0.021 ton of standard coal. Such measures run well ahead of averages in Taicang.
