The Jiading West Street Impression Cultural Center is set to open its doors on Dec 31, offering engaging exhibits and activities to explore the rich history and culture of Jiading district.

Visitors to the center will first encounter the "Root of Jiading" art installation, which fuses an ancient map with tree imagery, symbolizing Jiading's deep historical roots. The center's "Impression Book Hall" brings West Street's thousand-year history to life through captivating stories.

As visitors walk along the restored cobblestone path, they'll find the "Return to West Street" exhibition. This display features intricate bamboo carvings of 14 important historical sites, offering insights into the area's architectural heritage. Designer Chang Le explained that these carvings help visitors appreciate the history before visiting the sites themselves.

The cultural center blends ancient history with modern design. The first floor is divided into three sections — "Roots", "Restoration", and "Heritage" — that highlight West Street's cultural significance. The second floor features a modern reception area that will serve as a "Cultural Salon", hosting events and offering stunning views of West Street, the Lianqi River, and Huguo Temple.
The center also focuses on personal stories. The "Inscriptions: A Hundred Trades of One Street" installation uses traditional bamboo carving to depict the vibrant trades that once thrived on West Street. A wall of old photographs features interviews with original residents, showcasing their deep connection to the area.
