Shanghai has opened its first "Riders' Home" in Jiading district's Liucheng Xintiandi shopping complex, welcoming delivery riders to a space designed specifically for them.
Launched by Meituan, this new facility offers a comfortable, supportive environment for riders to relax and recharge. It is open to all delivery riders, not just those from Meituan.
The "Riders' Home" is bright and clean, with sofas, refrigerators, and microwaves. It can accommodate over 40 riders at a time. There is also a health corner with blood pressure monitors, bandages, and common medications. In addition, riders can access power supplies, professional training, and information on their rights and benefits.

Yu Junchi, a delivery rider for three years, expressed his appreciation: "With the fridge and microwave, we can enjoy fresh, hot meals even when we miss regular mealtimes." He noted that the area is popular among riders waiting for orders, and now they have a place to rest, charge their devices, and share tips.

The facility also provides a map highlighting community resources and friendly service points. Information about Meituan's care activities and insurance subsidies is also available, offering clear guidance to riders.
Jiading district is committed to supporting new employment groups like delivery riders. The district's social work department is also developing personalized support programs for truck drivers, ride-hailing drivers, and online streamers.
