Matthias Mross from Germany, deputy general manager and CFO of KOSTAL Asia, was honored with the 2024 Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award on Nov 23.

The award, established in 1989, honors foreign nationals for their significant contributions to Shanghai's economic development, social progress, and international exchanges.

KOSTAL Group is one of the world's top 100 automotive parts suppliers. Under Mross' leadership since 2012, KOSTAL China has flourished in Shanghai, exporting 60 percent of its products overseas.

"We must not only promote the export of 'Made in China' products but also showcase the strength of 'Made in China' and establish a reputable Chinese standard," said Mross.

His commitment has led to significant technological investments, earning KOSTAL the title of Shanghai Intelligent Factory in 2023.

Mross' efforts have resulted in a six-fold increase in sales, from 2 billion yuan ($276,450.24) to 12 billion yuan. He has also pioneered the development of production and testing equipment in China, which is now used in KOSTAL's global operations.

Receiving the Magnolia Silver Award is a milestone for Mross, who considers Shanghai his second home. He said that he values the city's excellent education system and safety, both of which are important to his family.

As a representative of the German Chamber of Commerce, Mross promotes Shanghai to potential investors, encouraging them to explore opportunities in this dynamic city. Looking ahead, he is optimistic about expanding KOSTAL's business, especially in the burgeoning new energy vehicle sector in China.
