Shanghai's Jiading Industrial Zone recently made significant strides in boosting economic development by signing contracts for 14 projects at the 2024 Shanghai Jiading Industrial Zone Economic Development Conference on Feb 21.
The projects had a total investment of 3.11 billion yuan ($432.03 million), and the estimated total output value after production is expected to reach 53.5 billion yuan.
They focus on various sectors such as automobiles, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent sensors, the internet of things, high-performance medical equipment, and precision medical fields.
"Our project is dedicated to the design, research, and production of customized high-end hearing aid products by introducing high-precision 3D printers and other customized equipment, as well as cultivating world-class product design and manufacturing capabilities. The project's annual production capacity is expected to exceed 10,000 units," said Yang Longzi, vice-president of Shanghai United Imaging Microelectronics Technology Co Ltd.
In addition, the industrial zone appointed 16 investment ambassadors to further expand its investment network, leveraging the influence of leading enterprises and professional institutions.
Juergen Brandl, General Manager of Continental Smart Mobility (Shanghai) is one of the ambassadors. "Continental Group has been operating in Jiading since 1994 and in China for nearly 30 years. The Chinese market is one of the company's most important markets, and we are committed to serving it to the best of our abilities. Shanghai is the headquarters of the Continental Group in China, so we will 'take root in the market and serve the market', and continue to carry out product research and development and production in the city," he said.
The Jiading Industrial Zone also recognized the contribution of local enterprises, awarding 184 companies with Gold and Silver Awards for Outstanding Enterprises and honoring 98 entrepreneurs with Outstanding Operator Awards.
"We plan to build a benchmark project for Autoliv Group here," said Li Wenhao, vice-president of supply chain and human resources of the Autoliv Group in China, a representative of one of the award-winning enterprises. As one of the first auto enterprises to set up operations in the Jiading Industrial Zone, Autoliv has repeatedly achieved record sales over the past 25 years. Despite the current economic downturn, the company remains steadfast in increasing investment and expanding production in the park, expanding the Jiading Plant Phase II project.
