Basic situation
Data from the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics show that the total added value of Jiading district reached 276.83 billion yuan ($39.77 billion) in 2022. The added value of secondary and tertiary sectors amounted to 159.95 billion yuan and 116.52 billion yuan respectively.
Last year, the total industrial output value of industries above designated size in Jiading was 552.09 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3 percent. Since June, the decline in cumulative output value had been gradually narrowing.
In 2022, the district's total merchandise sales reached 738.62 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 4.5 percent, which is 6.4 percentage points lower than that of the first half of the year, but 0.3 percentage points higher than that of the first three quarters. Sales by enterprises above designated size achieved 709.22 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 4.3 percent, accounting for 96 percent of the district's total merchandise sales.
Jiading's total retail sales of consumer goods achieved 152.59 billion yuan last year, a year-on-year decrease of 5.2 percent, which was 15.5 and 2.7 percentage points lower than the figures for the first half and the first three quarters, respectively. The region's above-designated service industry recorded an operating income of 151.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3 percent.
The operating income of the scientific research and technical service industry with the highest proportion increased by 30 percent year-on-year.
Main features
The total industrial output value of Jiading's automobile industry was 385.54 billion yuan last year, up six percent year-on-year. It increased the region's total industrial output value above the designated size by 3.9 percentage points.
In 2022, the total industrial output value of the district's strategic emerging industries reached 150.01 billion yuan, 3.9 percentage points higher than the city's average, accounting for 27.2 percent of the region's large-scale industries.
New energy vehicles soared 68.8 percent and the biology and new energy sectors jumped by 19.1 percent and seven percent, respectively, year-on-year.
