Schaeffler Group, a leading automotive and industrial supplier, has recently opened a new research and development (R&D) building in Shanghai's Jiading district and set up the Schaeffler China Innovation Center, its first innovation center in China, in the building.
The expansion of Schaeffler's facilities in China reflects its commitment to the local market and the development of cutting-edge technologies for the automotive industry. The move is expected to enhance Schaeffler's R&D and innovation capabilities in the country and contribute to the industry's electrification, intelligence, and digitalization efforts in China.
Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler Group, highlighted China as not only an important market but also a hub of innovation. He stated that Schaeffler will strengthen its commitment to the Chinese market and continue to cultivate it.
The recently opened R&D building, spanning 12,000 square meters, will focus on future-oriented technologies such as hydrogen energy, electric drives for new energy vehicles, and industrial bearings.
The Schaeffler China Innovation Center will facilitate the incubation and industrialization of innovative projects and promote collaboration with government, universities, start-ups, and research institutions.
