Seeing how Shanghai's Jiading district has been making efforts to build an innovative base for intelligent connected vehicles, Brose Sitech will further expand its presence and contribute to local economic development, said the company's CEO Thomas Spangler.

Spangler made the remarks during a meeting with Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Shanghai's Jiading district, on Aug 17.

China's auto market is currently embracing electrification, intelligence, internet connectivity and sharing, and the new energy vehicle market is developing rapidly. Jiading district is now home to over 200 R&D platforms related to these sectors, said Lu.

Lu pointed out that Jiading district hopes to work together with Brose Sitech in sectors such as R&D center construction, smart factory transformation and industrial chain cooperation to help the company further expand.

Established in 1908 in Berlin, Germany, Brose Sitech is currently the world's fourth largest auto parts supplier. One out of every two new cars in the world is equipped with at least one product by the company.

Brose Sitech first entered the Chinese market in 1996. It now has 12 offices and 3,800 employees across China, and generates an annual revenue of about 8.5 billion yuan ($1.16 billion). The company currently has three subsidies in Jiading district.
