Jiading maps out blueprint for intelligent connected vehicles

Jiading district in Shanghai held a work conference on March 21 to stabilize the economy and boost regional development. Last year, the total industrial added value of Jiading reached 276.83 billion yuan ($40.24 billion).

A total of 60 projects were signed with a combined total investment of 15.5 billion yuan, of which 34 were in key industrial fields including the "new four modernizations" - electrification, networking, intelligence and sharing - of automobiles, smart sensors, the internet of things, high-performance medical equipment and precision medicine.

"We will strive to create a high-quality business environment, launch favorable policies and encourage more enterprises to expand investment in an all-round way," said Lu Fangzhou, Party secretary of Jiading.

During the conference, the district awarded outstanding groups, individuals, service agencies in 2022 including the top 100 enterprises with comprehensive strength and the top 50 modern service enterprises. Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co, Hesai Technology and financial analysis website Eastmoney won the honorable title of "Innovative Stars of Jiading". Jiading also granted licenses to the first batch of 20 district-level smart factories.

Last year, the industrial output value above designated size in Jiading hit 550.29 billion yuan, of which the output value of the auto sector totaled 385.54 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6 percent, and the total output value generated by the "new four modernizations" of automobiles amounted to 164.69 billion yuan, up 41.8 percent year-on-year.

Jiading released an action plan (2023-25) on building a new highland for intelligent connected vehicles. The plan proposes that by 2025, Jiading will develop 20 intelligent connected car models, 10 mass-produced vehicles with a global influence, 20 core car chips and mass produce 20 types of self-driving software.
