Jiading locals express thanks to medical workers online through music

( english.jiading.gov.cn ) 2022-03-31

Shanghai's Jiading district launched an online singing event recently that will run until April 30, local media reported on March 31.

The event is designed as a platform for people to pay their respect and gratitude to the front-line medical workers fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic.

A resident surnamed Li posted a video of himself playing the guitar and singing to show his gratitude.

Children are also participating in the online event. For example, a second grade student Xie Jinxuan composed a song and performed it with her music teacher to express her thanks to the front-line medical workers and volunteers.

"They were very kind and nice to me when I took the nucleic acid test and I saw them taking tests for residents after 9 pm," Xie said. She added that she was deeply touched by the front-line workers so she wanted to show her respect for them through her music.

Each song uploaded during the event will be transferred into a cultural and travel gift box for the front-line medical workers who are fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic, according to Tian Tian, the director of Jiading Culture Cloud.

Individual or group participants can sing a song within one minute and upload it as an audio or video file.
