Anting town in Shanghai's Jiading district made the contact information of its 77 village committees and property companies public for residents to call for services including medical consultation and the procurement of food and daily necessities during lockdown, according to a new lockdown plan released on March 21.

Each village has set up a 24-hour hotline with dedicated operators to record the needs of callers and provide solutions.

For instance, a resident surnamed Huang, who lives in a neighborhood in Anting town, called the community to order some vegetables and fruits one morning and she received her delivery from volunteers of the community in the afternoon on the same day.

In addition to delivering daily food supplies, community workers take care of residents' medical needs. In another neighborhood in Anting town, community workers and volunteers teamed up in groups to buy medicine for residents. They bought and delivered medicine for 103 residents within eight hours.

"I receive more than 100 calls from residents from 7 am to 5 pm every day," said Pan Chenxia, a hotline operator in an Anting town community. In addition to calls from residents for consultations and help, she receives calls from people who want to express their gratitude for the help she provides.

"Each call represents the residents' trust in us, so we respond to all requests," Pan added.
