More than 95,000 primary and secondary school students in Shanghai's Jiading district started online learning on March 14 under the epidemic prevention and control measures to fight against the latest outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Shanghai.

The district's education bureau will follow up on each school's teaching feedback and advise them on how to improve their online teaching methods and curriculum, as well as conduct teaching quality assessments, to ensure that every Jiading student receives a high-quality education.

For instance, Jiading Huajiang Milddle School arranged an online flag-raising ceremony and morning exercises to start school at home for students, said Li Li, vice-president of the middle school.

In addition, the middle school requires teachers to follow normal teaching standards and procedures, including lesson preparation, teaching, assigning homework, tutoring, and assessments.

Teachers do their best to construct each class in order to get the most out of online teaching. For instance, during online classes, they utilize the answer card format to allow students to quickly answer some simple multiple-choice questions in order to gain feedback from classmates.
