The Shanghai factory of Aptiv, a multinational technology company, has installed 3.3 hectares of embedded photovoltaic power generation equipment, including 5,940 solar panels, in Anting town, Jiading district.
To save energy and reduce emissions, the plant installed the photovoltaic power generation system.
When yearly photovoltaic power generating capacity is around 2.95 million kWh, it is predicted that around 2.42 million yuan ($383,404.79) in electricity bills can be saved and over 2,400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be avoided each year.
To date, photovoltaic power generation has accounted for 10 percent of the company's total electricity usage.
"The introduction of photovoltaic power generation system can not only help us save production costs but also assist us to build a low-carbon factory in order to achieve green and high-quality development," said Shen Guoliang, general manager of Aptiv China.
The company will start the construction of the second phase of the photovoltaic power generation system with a construction scale of about 2 hectares, and is expected to be officially connected to the grid in the third quarter of this year, which will save about 1.6 million yuan in electricity costs every year, Shen added.
According to statistics, Jiading district has 1,428 photovoltaic power generation users connected to the grid, including 246 companies.
