Sam's Club is expected to open a new store in Shanghai's Jiading district by the end of 2023, according to an agreement signed by Walmart China, Nanxiang government, and Shanghai Small Sheep Industry Co on Dec 20.
The 22,000-square-meter store will be located in the industrial park of Shanghai Small Sheep Industry Co in Nanxiang town, Jiading district, and will boast 1,100 parking spaces.
After opening its doors, the club will serve customers from Jiading district and surrounding cities.
Jiading district has been bolstering its efforts to help traditional businesses transform in recent years, which has been exemplified by the establishment of the Sam's Club in the industrial park.
Nanxiang town helped Shanghai Small Sheep Industry Co make its industrial park comprehensive in September 2019, which helped the company reach cooperation intentions with Walmart in Oct 2020 to establish Sam's Club.
To date, Sam's Club has opened 36 stores in China that have 4 million members.
