About the county

Fairfax County, officially the County of Fairfax, is located in northern Virginia in the United States, close to Washington, D.C. It covers an area of 1,050 square kilometers and has a population of 1.15 million (2018).

Fairfax County is a wealthy residential area and a first county-level administrative division in the United States, with a median household income of $100,000. The headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is also located in the county.

Establishment of friendly relations

Jiading and Fairfax County began friendly exchanges at the end of 1993 through the efforts of Professor Zhu Zhengyin of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies and He Fangming, honorary chairman of the America-China Affairs Council of the United States, as well as with the support of the Chinese embassy in the United States.

On March 29, 1994, the two regions signed the Letter of Intent on Friendly Relations Between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Fairfax County of Virginia State of the United States of America. In October of the same year, the two places signed an agreement on further strengthening friendly exchanges.



Shanghai Auto Expo Park

Completed in March 2006 and open to the public free of charge, the Shanghai Auto Expo Park sprawls across an area of 76.67 hectares.
