East China's Shanghai will accelerate the building of five "new cities" in its suburbs in order to optimize its development layout and boost economic growth in the next five years. Jiading will be one of the five new cities.
The plan states that the municipal government will support the building of a comprehensive transportation system in Jiading New City by 2035 to strengthen the city's status as a regional transportation hub and improve Jiading's transportation services.
It also states the municipal government will develop its Anting north and west stations as comprehensive transportation centers and promote the interconnected development of Jiading New City and the Shanghai International Auto City in Anting.
The construction of Shanghai Metro Line 11 and the Jiading-Minhang line will be part of a transportation hub in northern Jiading and Jiading New City.
In addition, work on the Jiading-Minhang line will be continued to strengthen links between Jiading and the Hongqiao International Hub, and expansion work on the Jiading-Minhang line will begin in June. The new line will link Jiading North Station in Jiading and Xinzhuang North Station in Minhang district to Taicang in East China's Jiangsu province and will shorten travel time between Taicang and downtown Shanghai to just one hour, as well as further accelerate the integration of regions in the Yangtze River Delta.
Furthermore, a "three horizontal and four vertical" highway and expressway network will be built in Jiading, and renovation work on the Jia'an Highway and the Yining Road will be carried out to improve service and reduce traffic pressure.
