Fair promotes science, technology development of YRD

The second Scientific Technology Fair for the Yangtze River Delta Region opened on Sept 25 at the Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center in Jiading district of Shanghai.

At the opening ceremony, a strategic agreement was signed to deepen the integration of science and technology innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The signing parties were the science and technology departments of Jiading district, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province and Wuhu, Anhui province.

Liu Yan, an official from Shanghai, said that according to the agreement, the regions will further strengthen their cooperation in the areas of science and technology innovation strategy coordination, achievement match-making, resource sharing and ecological co-construction.

The fair has gradually become an important platform for the development of innovative technology policies and innovative achievements transformation in the Yangtze River Delta region, Liu added.

Jiading is focusing on development in areas such as intelligent manufacturing, the internet of things, new energy vehicles and precision medical equipment.

Officials said that Jiading is building an inter-regional science and technology cooperation services system.

This covers a complete set of professional technology services, capital support, talent training and project match-making, Liu said.

Jiading is home to some large high-tech companies and a number of small and medium-sized technology-based enterprises.

The China Association of Automobile Human Resources Directors (Yangtze River Delta branch), the national university science park of Tongji University and a science and technology innovation park were launched at the opening ceremony as well.

A series of activities was staged during the fair, including forums, road shows, training courses and entrepreneurship competitions.

More than 400 enterprises took part in its exhibition.
