( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2018-09-28

Chinese consumer electronics retailer Gome recently started the construction of its e-commerce headquarters in Jiading district, Shanghai.

The headquarters, set to be an operating, purchasing, stock, and logistics center, is expected to accelerate the company's development. It is also expected to improve the efficiency of the logistics and the offline distribution systems in East China, and reduce operating costs.

"E-commerce and logistics are key elements through the whole process of production and circulation in modern enterprises. The new e-commerce headquarters in Shanghai, with its excellent operational capability and strong warehouse and logistics capacity, will be a big boost for the development of the company," said Fang Wei, chief financial officer of Gome.

It is planned that the headquarters will have a two-story warehouse building, an industrial factory building, and a six-story office building, covering a combined floor area of near 60,000 square meters. Its services will mainly cover East China.

After the construction of the headquarters is complete, there will be the capacity for more than 50,000 packages to be processed daily, and delivery to be done within 48 hours. It is also predicted that the overall operating costs will be reduced by around 35 percent.
