The Alshaa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark is to join hands with the Taishan UNESCO Global Geopark to promote their tourism, following a launch ceremony held at Taishan Tianwai Village Square in East China's Shandong province on Feb 22.

The two UNESCO geoparks will further combine resources in the fields of geological relics protection, scientific research popularization, tourism promotion and other fields.

It is expected that this will spur their popularity and influence and help the high-quality development of the tourism economy.

During the launch ceremony, 52 photographic works went on display to demonstrate the unique geological relic resources, historical culture and natural ecosystem of the Badain Jaran Desert in the Alshaa geopark – widely regarded as being the most beautiful desert in China.

The Alshaa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark consists of three geo-regions: the Badain Jaran Geo-region, the Tengger Geo-region and the Juyan Geo-region.
