Alshaa League generates domestic tourism revenue of $479m

Alshaa League in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region received a total of 3.39 million domestic tourists in 2022 – generating revenue of 3.25 billion yuan ($479 million).

That's according to the data from a survey released by the autonomous region's department of culture and tourism.

Located in the westernmost area of Inner Mongolia, Alshaa means "colorful terrain" in the Mongolian language. It is rich in tourism resources and boasts well-known scenic spots including the Badain Jaran Desert, the desert poplar forest and Dongfeng Aerospace City.

Endowed with richly colored terrain, the Badain Jaran desert has cragged peaks, beautiful lakes, springs and temples. It has been rated as the first of the five most beautiful deserts in China by the Chinese National Geography Magazine.

Ejine Banner in Alshaa League has one of the three remaining Populus euphratica forest reserves in the world. The scenic area integrates a variety of enthralling landscapes including the Gobi Desert, grasslands, lakes and forests.
