Three wetlands in the Alshaa League – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – have just been confirmed as league-level important wetlands.

That's according to evaluation results released by the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Alshaa League recently.

The wetlands are: Alshaa League Aobao Nuoertu Wetland, Alshaa League Aigennuori Lake Wetland and Alshaa League Swan Lake Wetland.

The first, located in the Tengger Desert of Alshaa Left Banner, covers an area of 49.12 hectares. The main protection objects are wetlands and wild animals and plants.

The Alshaa League Aigennuori Lake Wetland, located in the Badain Jaran Desert in Alshaa Right Banner, covers an area of 33.57 ha. The main protection objects are the lake water surface and wild animals and plants.

The Alshaa League Swan Lake Wetland, located in Ejine Banner, covers an area of 720.93 ha. Its main protection objects are wetland birds and the ecosystems they depend on for survival.

The release of the "List of Important Wetlands in Alshaa League" is expected to play an important role in enhancing the ecological functions of wetlands.

It is also expected to help protect biodiversity, scientifically implement wetland ecological restoration and systematically carry out wetland monitoring, protection and supervision in the league.
