Inner Mongolia team claims first gold at National Winter Biathlon

The 2023-2024 season of the National Winter Biathlon Championships, along with the 14th National Winter Sports Games Biathlon Qualification Tournament, concluded with the women's 4x6 kilometers relay and men's 4x7.5 km relay on Jan 9.

Representing the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Athletic Training Center, the Inner Mongolia team secured the gold medal in the men's category and the bronze medal in the women's category.

In the men's 4x7.5 km relay event, the Inner Mongolia team, consisting of Zhuang Shengyu, Song Chen, Shi Yuanyuan, and Jian Kaige, gave an outstanding performance to clinch the first gold medal of the competition.

After the race, Jian expressed his excitement, saying, "We are thrilled to have won the gold medal. We will carry this momentum into the upcoming 14th National Winter Games and strive for even better results."

Similarly, the Inner Mongolia team displayed remarkable performance in the women's 4x6 km relay event.

Team members Chi Yanmin, Ma Yiming, Shi Bingxin, and Song Na secured the bronze medal in the race with a time of 1 hr, 32 min, and 40.9 sec.

Chi, a native of Ulaanqab, also achieved the fastest time in the first leg of the race.

Chi stated, "We are very happy with our placement today. The race went smoothly, and all four of us performed exceptionally well. We hope to achieve even better results in the upcoming events."
