On Nov 30, with the double-track between Yuzhoudi Station and Pingdingmiao Station on the Jining-Tongliao Railway having been completely overhauled, the newly-built Linxi Station was officially put into operation.
This marks a significant increase in the transportation capacity of the Jining-Tongliao Railway, which serves as a coal transportation corridor in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Linxi Station is located in Linxi county of Inner Mongolia. It ranks as the largest newly-built station in the electrification transformation of the railway. Construction on it began in September 2022.

The station consists of an above-ground passenger waiting hall and an underground passenger exit channel. It can handle 100,000 passengers a year, and the waiting hall can accommodate up to 1,500 people at the same time.
The 52-kilometer double-track overhaul between Yuzhoudi Station and Pingdingmiao Station is a key project to overcome any bottlenecks in the railway's transportation capacity.
Jining-Tongliao Railway crosses the central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia and is the most convenient means by rail of undertaking economic exchanges between the Hohhot-Baotou-Yinchuan economic belt and the northeastern region.
After the entire railway goes electric, the channel capacity will be increased from over 36 million metric tons to over 80 million tons.
