China Camel Industry Development Conference kicks off in Inner Mongolia
The Eighth China Camel Industry Development Conference kicked off in Urad Rear Banner of Bayannuur city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 12.
At the opening ceremony, over 600 actors dressed in ethnic costumes entranced the audience with their resplendent dancing, offering a spectacular showcase of joy and harmony.
Moreover, a slew of cultural and entertainment activities took place, including a live show demonstrating local intangible cultural heritage called "Camel Land Love", a red camel race, horse riding, a ball game involving camels, and a traditional Urad wedding ceremony, leaving the audience spoilt for choice.
Home to roughly 20 percent of China's camel population, Urad Rear Banner now boasts around 60,000 eye-catching camels.
In recent years, considering the rising income of herders and the growing border stability, authorities have proposed an innovative "1+9+N" development model for the gobi red camel industry. A series of preferential policies have been introduced, fostering optimal conditions for red camels to breed.
"We will further extend the development of the camel industry chain, heighten its prominence and influence, fill in any industry gaps swiftly, and optimize the structure of the camel industry," said the deputy head of the banner.
"We will also encourage the high-quality integrated development of the camel industry, continue to amplify the camel-rearing income for farmers and herders, and contribute to rural vitalization," he added.
