Over the just-concluded eight-day Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, Inner Mongolia saw a staggering 23.06 million domestic tourist arrivals, a dramatic six-fold increase compared to last year.

The domestic tourism revenue generated during the period rocketed to 15.85 billion yuan ($2.17 billion), 7.23 times more than the same period last year.

Over the vacation, autumn colors and pleasant weather attracted many people, who admired the magnificent landscapes and explored the beauty of the region.

Big data from Ctrip, a Chinese online travel service provider, showed an impressive 315-percent year-on-year growth in overall tourism orders for Inner Mongolia.

More than 50 percent of these orders were for cross-provincial travel, which saw a 282-percent surge compared to the previous year. The majority of tourists came from cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, and Xi’an.
