The Xilingol League Energy Equipment Manufacturing Industry Summit 2023 was held in Beijing on May 23. During the event, 18 projects were signed on-site, with a total investment amount of 5 billion yuan ($707.32 million).
More than 100 leading enterprises in the energy equipment manufacturing industry, hailing from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Shandong, gathered to discuss the high-quality development of the industry and the region.
With abundant wind and solar resources, enormous potential, and multiple channels for power transmission, Xilingol League has attracted a significant influx of prominent energy equipment manufacturing enterprises in recent years. In 2022, the league’s new energy equipment manufacturing industry witnessed a year-on-year growth of 11.4 percent and achieved an output value of 5.88 billion yuan.
"The signed projects primarily focus on extending, complementing, and strengthening the wind turbine manufacturing industry in Xilingol League, transitioning from mere assembly to true manufacturing. This expansion aims to go beyond the production of wind turbines and venture into areas such as energy storage batteries and hydrogen equipment," explained Hu Chengdong, Deputy Commissioner of Xilingol League.
"The signed projects primarily aim to extend, complement, and strengthen the wind turbine manufacturing industry in Xilingol League, moving beyond mere assembly towards genuine manufacturing. This expansion seeks to diversify into areas such as energy storage batteries and hydrogen equipment, in addition to wind turbine production," said Hu Chengdong, deputy head of the league committee.
During the summit, a white paper highlighting Xilingol's achievements in green electricity and wind turbine equipment manufacturing was released. As of the end of 2022, the Xilingol League's green electricity grid-connected capacity had reached 13.45 million kilowatts, accounting for one-fifth of Inner Mongolia autonomous region's total. The green electricity installation index was 22.26, making the league the first prefecture-level city in Inner Mongolia to build a green electricity base surpassing 10 million kilowatts in capacity.
In 2022, the highest utilization hours of the wind and solar projects in the Xilingol League reached 4,700 hours and 2,100 hours respectively. The region generated an impressive 30.1 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity, ranking first among all prefecture-level cities in Inner Mongolia. Notably, for every 100 kilowatt-hours of green electricity generated in Inner Mongolia, 23.1 kilowatt-hours were contributed by the Xilingol League.
According to the white paper, Xilingol League's green electricity installation will reach 25 million kilowatts by 2025, and will have built an industrial cluster that encompasses various sectors, including new energy and wind power equipment manufacturing, the hydrogen energy industry, energy storage, and energy operation and maintenance services.
