An online event boosting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and its neighbor Mongolia kicked off on Sept 29 and will run until the end of October.

The launch ceremony for this year's event took place that day in the city of Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

During a one-month period, a total of nine activities will all be held online – including literary performances, exhibitions, film and television drama screenings, book publishing events and song competitions.

This year's event will invite four well-known experts from Inner Mongolia Medical University to hold an online series of lectures on the theme of "Promoting the Health Culture of Traditional Mongolian Medicine."

The lectures will look at the prevention and treatment of diseases – among them COVID-19, rheumatism and osteoarthritis – in detail.

Meanwhile, Inner Mongolia Publishing Group will donate the Chinese Classics Translation Collection published by Inner Mongolia People's Publishing House to five Chinese book reading rooms jointly built by China and Mongolia – as well as to Mongolia's universities, academies, middle schools, social groups and other institutions and units.

Unench, deputy director of the publicity department of the CPC Inner Mongolia autonomous regional committee, told the launch ceremony in a speech that the countries of China and Mongolia had always been committed to strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation.

The inaugural cultural event held in 2009 – and subsequent sessions – had greatly promoted the common prosperity and development of the cultures of the two and enhanced the traditional friendship between their peoples, Unench added.

Davaasteren, director of the Cultural Heritage Policy Implementation Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, told the launch ceremony that the activities to be held during the one-month period would prove to be a hit in both nations.
