North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently issued preferential policies to support the construction of roads in the region's rural areas.

The new policies make it clear that a one-time incentive fund of 10 million yuan ($1.50 million) will be given to the demonstration leagues and banners for road constructions recognized as national-level.

A one-time incentive fund of 10 million yuan and 5 million yuan will be given to leagues and banners, respectively, that are recognized at the autonomous region level.

The incentive funds are mainly used for road construction and maintenance in rural areas.

Moreover, Inner Mongolia encourages the integrated development of passenger, freight, postal and express delivery in rural areas.

It will grant an investment subsidy of 2 million yuan to counties that are nationally recognized for the integrated development of urban and rural transportation and an annual operation subsidy of 200,000 yuan to a county or district passenger station that undertakes passenger transportation in rural areas.Meanwhile, an annual operation subsidy of 200,000 yuan will be given to a township or county passenger station that has begun operating.

By the end of 2021, all 778 towns and villages in the region had paved roads. Of the region's 11,058 villages, 11,052 have access to paved roads, and the remaining six do not meet the conditions for access to paved roads.
