Inner Mongolia's economy rebounds

2021-05-10 (chinadaily.com.cn)

North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has reportedly shown a steady recovery in its economy in the current year, according to the latest statistics.

In the first quarter, investments in major projects surged by 72 percent year-on-year, while investment in major projects in the manufacturing industry increased by 1.3 times.

Statistics showed that the economic growth rate of the autonomous region exceeded 15 percent during the period.

Dalu Industrial Park, located in Ordos city, was cited as a typical example of the pattern of recovery.

The park hosts a modern coal chemicals industry base -- focusing on the coal-to-methanol, coal-to-liquid and coal-to-polyethylene sector -- as well as a resources recycling specializing in  high-aluminum fly ash and aluminum deep processing.

Last year it was home to 89 enterprises, reportedly playing an essential role in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin economic zone.

Since the start of the current year, it has reportedly attracted more than 130 new technologies and related facilitation measures in the modern coal chemicals industry and the reutilization of downstream waste -- in a bid to improve product quality, production efficiency and general environmental protection levels.

Additionally, in the first four months of the year, Ordos was selected as one of the country's National Cultural and Tourism Consumption Demonstration Cities.

The Baotou Bonded Logistics Center in Baotou city by itself in the period undertook imports trade worth 87.42 million yuan ($13.12 million).
