Ereenhot port sees rising number of China-Europe freight trains
A total of 631 China-Europe freight trains have passed through the border port of Ereenhot in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region as of April 6, according to the local customs bureau.
Imports carried by the trains include agricultural products such as sugar, sunflower seeds, flaxseed and sunflower oil, in addition to traditional commodities such as boards, wood pulp and other building materials.
Exports include high value-added products such as mechanical and electrical items, cars, automobile parts, photovoltaic products, textiles, daily necessities and home appliances.
Ereenhot Railway Port is the largest border checkpoint or land port in China that is open to neighboring Mongolia. It is across the border from Zamyn-Uud in Mongolia and 714 kilometers away from Mongolia's capital city, Ulaanbaatar.
The port is responsible for more than 60 percent of the rail and road freight transportation between China and Mongolia due to the advantages it enjoys from its unique location and its efficient and convenient customs clearance procedures.
Currently, there are 45 China-Europe freight train routes passing through the port. The routes begin in more than 40 cities across China and end in 60 destinations across 10 countries, including Hamburg, Rotterdam, Moscow and Warsaw.
According to Liu Zongcheng, general manager of a logistics company in Ereenhot, transporting goods by the China-Europe train has a range of advantages, including accurate delivery times, safer transport, convenient customs clearance and lower costs.
