Inner Mongolia speed skater bags 6 golds at nationals

Athletes from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region stood out at the 2020-2021 Season National Speed Skating Championships, winning six gold medals.

Inner Mongolia sent a total of nine athletes to participate in the championships. 

Han Mei performed outstandingly and won six gold medals in the women's 500m, 1,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m, as well as the women's all-around total points and women's team chasing.

Xuan Bowen placed fifth in the men's 10,000m race, while Yu Jiawei placed seventh in the same event.

Meanwhile, Sun Jiazhao and Yu Jiawei both placed fourth in the men's team chasing event, while Duan Quanzheng placed sixth and Wang Fanzhi placed seventh.

Jing Jie placed seventh in the women's team chasing.

The speed skating competition was held on March 20-23 in Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.

Over the four-day competition period, athletes across the country competed in approximately 10 skating events, including the women's all-around 500m, 1,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m races, the men's all-around 500m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m races, as well as men's and women's short-distance all-around 500m races and the men's and women's 1,000m events.
