The Hohhot bureau of China Railway Co – located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region – will launch extra trains to serve passengers during the Dragon Boat Festival holidays to cope with holiday travel rush, according to information released by the bureau.

Officials said the travel rush will last four days from June 24 to 27.

The services are mainly being targeted at people visiting relatives and tourists.

A total of 19 pairs of inter-city trains – running in Hohhot, capital city of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, as well as in Baotou and Ordos cities in the autonomous region will be added – providing more than 23,000 passenger seats to meet the needs of passengers on their short-distance travels.

This Dragon Boat Festival holiday is the first peak passenger flow since the implementation by the national railway electronic tickets.

Passengers who buy tickets online no longer need to collect paper tickets. At the stations, it now only takes 1.5 seconds for them to have their tickets checked.
