To mark the nation's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region held a raft of events to exhibit and promote its local intangible cultural heritage at Inner Mongolia Exhibition Center in Hohhot, capital of the region, on June 7-9.

The three-day activity mainly included embroidery exhibitions, an exhibition on skilled techniques to make pictures, a display of handicrafts using birch bark and an exhibition of old photos of traditional Mongolian costumes.

According to local media reports, a series of activities were held to exhibit the practices and achievements in inheritance, innovation and poverty alleviation of key intangible cultural heritage projects. These aimed to raise the awareness of locals to protect their intangible cultural heritage and mobilizing them to participate in promoting the development of intangible cultural heritage.

During the event, the Inner Mongolia Exhibition Center also invited embroidery artists and craftsmen, who used birch bark to create pictures and handicrafts on site -- to teach traditional crafts to local pupils -- with Mongolian horses as the theme.
