Tongliao, Beijing deepen ties through Nadam fair

The 38th Beijing Nadam Fair kicked off at Minzu University of China in Beijing, Oct 20. During the Nadam fair, an investment cooperation and promotion conference was also held for schools and firms between Tongliao, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Beijing.

Hosted by the Beijing Nadam fair organizing committee, Tongliao government and Minzu University of China, the event was held in a bid to strengthen ties between Beijing and Tongliao and to demonstrate Tongliao’s economic development over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up.

The fair featured a cultural performance and nine sports events, including ethnic Mongolian chess, archery, football and a tug of war, attracting over 2,000 participants from across the country.

Forty projects worth 68.5 billion yuan ($9.89 billion) were signed during the event. And Tongliao government donated 500,000 yuan to the university’s department of Mongolian language and literature; books were also donated to the university library by Beijing and Tongliao Chamber of Commerce.   

Launched in 1981, the urban edition of the Nadam fair- Beijing Nadam fair has developed into a cultural brand in Beijing that demonstrates the charms of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
