2017-06-26 (chinadaily.com.cn)

The Alax Buddhism petroglyphs can be found between Guangzong Temple and Fuyin Temple in Alax Left Banner of Inner Mongolia. It is the largest rock carving group in the autonomous region. The petroglyphs have distinct characteristics of grassland and Tibetan Buddhist culture, resulting in the spread of Tibetan Buddhism under the influence of Tsangyang Gyatso, the sixth Dalai Lama. These petroglyphs preserved Tibetan Buddhist history, culture, and art of more than 200 years. The carving group is a rare source of evidence in studying the history, religion and folk arts of Alax.
