The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed rail commenced operations on Dec 26, with the first train from Shanghai Hongqiao arriving at Anji county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, in about one hour.

This new rail drastically reduces travel time from Anji to Shanghai, enhancing Anji's integration into the Yangtze River Delta region.

Anji has a deep connection with Shanghai, evident at Longwang Mountain where a stone tablet inscribed with "Source of the Huangpu River" by former Shanghai Mayor Wang Daohan stands, attracting many Shanghai residents over the years.

Embracing the "integration with Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta" strategy, Anji has been actively collaborating with Shanghai, injecting vigor into the county's high-quality development.

"Over 30 percent of visitors to Anji are from Shanghai. In addition to popular scenic spots, they have been keen on rural travel in recent years," said Luo Futi, director of the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau in Anji.

The county is raising standards for tourism projects and services to better absorb the benefits brought by the new railway.

The high-speed rail not only enhances connectivity but also presents opportunities for Anji to attract young talent, empowering youth in rural areas.

Entrepreneur Zhang Yun from Shanghai launched his second project in Anji — the Yucun Post Office — this year to deliver local products to customers more efficiently.

"Many employees of my company often travel between Shanghai and Anji. The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou railway will greatly reduce their travel times," said Zhang. He believes that the new high-speed rail will attract more young people to the county.
