Two wetlands - Xianshan Lake National Wetland Park and Xiazhu Lake National Wetland Park - in Huzhou were recently listed among the first batch of Zhejiang provincial bird-watching resorts by the provincial forestry bureau.
Xianshan Lake National Wetland Park, which is located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces and falls under the Taihu Lake water system, is a stop for rare birds like the white-necked pheasant, cygnet, and mandarin duck during the winter.
Xiazhu Lake National Wetland Park is a national 4A scenic area located to the southeast of Huzhou's Deqing county. It spans 36 square kilometers and has a 3.4-square-kilometer water area.
Huzhou is now a haven for birds thanks to its sustained efforts in ecological conservation in recent years.
According to the completed surveys of bird resources in Anji, Changxing and Deqing counties, Huzhou is currently home to 256 species of water fowls.
