A jet departed from Anji county, Zhejiang province for Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province on April 10, marking the opening of the first cross-provincial flight in Anji.

The flight, which sets back each passenger 168 yuan ($24.4), can carry up to six people on a single journey.

One round trip between Anji and Zhenjiang will be operated on Fridays and Sundays, with additional flights expected to be made available during the holidays.

A jet will depart from Zhenjiang at 1:30 pm and land in Anji at 2:30 pm every Friday. The return flight departs Anji at 3 pm and arrives in Zhenjiang at 4pm.

On Sundays, the plane will take off from Zhenjiang at 9:30 am, while the return flight will leave Anji at 11 am.

Passengers can book tickets via the "Hangluzongheng" app or dialing hotline –+8615152905299.

Wang Junjie, a passenger who was a part of the maiden trip, said that the flight has slashed the travel time from Anji to Zhenjiang from more than two hours by bullet trains to one hour. The cost, however, is almost the same.

The opening of the new route represents a big step forward in Anji's quest to build a comprehensive transportation system, an official said.
