The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on Dec 27 that Wanfenglin Scenic Area in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture has become Guizhou province's 10th national 5A-level tourist attraction.
Located at the southeastern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Wanfenglin has a maximum elevation of 1,600 meters and an average elevation of 1,200 meters. The scenic area is over 2,000 square kilometers and has 68.5 percent forest coverage. It is the most typical region in the world for developing conical Karst peak forest landscapes.
Wanfenglin enjoys a mild climate, with an annual average temperature of 16-18 C and an average temperature of 21-26 C in July. The area is listed as one of China's top summer destinations and is a popular location for wellness and leisure tourism.
In recent years, Guizhou has integrated culture with tourism, aiming to become a world-class travel destination with its unique tourism resources. In the first three quarters of this year, Guizhou's total number of tourist arrivals and tourism revenue increased by 11 percent and 14.8 percent, respectively.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization has named Guizhou one of the world's top 10 travel destinations. The New York Times once listed it as one of the 52 must-visit destinations worldwide, and Lonely Planet ranked it as one of the top 10 best travel regions.
Guizhou will continue the opening-up of its cultural and tourism sectors and cooperate with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
