6th West China Convention of Symphony Orchestras to open in Guizhou

According to a news conference held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Sept 2, the 6th West China Convention of Symphony Orchestras will be held in Guiyang and Zunyi, Southwest China's Guizhou province, from Sept 6 to 14.

This year's convention will bring together 12 orchestras from across the country, each featuring different regional characteristics, which will showcase a blend of tradition and modern innovation.

The works featured will be original creations by symphony orchestras from West China, highlighting the explorations in the symphonic music domain of China's western regions.

This year's convention will continue to invite famous conductors such as Tan Lihua, Zhang Guoyong, Bian Zushan, and Shao En to collaborate with the orchestras, further elevating their performance levels and promoting their development.

During the convention, a series of lectures by renowned conductors, performers, and composers will be organized to give the public a better understanding of symphonic music.

The convention will host a symposium on the development of West China's symphonic music, inviting renowned experts, scholars, artists, and orchestra leaders to analyze the current status of West China's symphony orchestra development, summarize successful experiences and existing issues, and discuss ways to further advance the high-quality development of West China's symphonic music.

The convention offers affordable ticket prices, ranging from 50 yuan ($7) to 150 yuan, aiming to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the music.
