The 2024 Colorful Guizhou: 17th PhotoChina Original International Photography Exhibition opened at Guizhou Art Museum in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 30.

The exhibition showcases over 2,000 select works by photographers from home and abroad, highlighting the unique charm of Guizhou and supporting Guizhou in becoming a world-class tourist destination.

This year's exhibition focuses on Guizhou's red culture, Yangming culture, ethnic culture, and Tunpu culture. It features one main exhibition and three special exhibitions.

The exhibition, which will run until Aug 11, is being held in collaboration with Guizhou Long March Digital Technology Art Museum, Guiyang Xiuwen Yangming Culture Park, Guizhou Ethnic Museum, and Guizhou Provincial Museum to present the fine works exhibition.

Japan is this year's guest country, with six Japanese photographers who have long focused on Guizhou showcasing their works. One of the photographer representatives is Taketa Takeshi, who said that the exhibition not only attracts professional photographers and hobbyists from around the world, but also showcases Guizhou's natural scenery, ethnic culture, and spirit to the world.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. French photographer Gregoire de Gaulle, whose works are featured in the exhibition, has visited Guizhou multiple times in search of inspiration.

He hopes that the exhibition will strengthen the bond between China and France, bringing about more opportunities for cooperation.

The exhibition will also tour in Paris and Tokyo, and invite photographers from home and abroad to Guizhou for artistic exchanges, creative inspiration, and other activities.

Since its inception in 2008, the exhibition, focusing on global ecological and cultural preservation, has collected hundreds of thousands of photographs from around the globe, and has held special exhibitions in over 20 countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Australia.
