Guide on payments for overseas personnel in Guizhou

In order to satisfy the payment demands for overseas personnel in Guizhou, the Guizhou Branch of the People's Bank of China has been committed to diversify payment methods and scenarios and provide more convenient and safe payment services by giving instructions to relevant institutions. At present, payment services such as credit/debit card payment, mobile payment, cash payment and other payment methods, have been provided for overseas personnel to Guizhou, covering various scenarios, such as transportation, shopping, entertainment, daily consumption, dining and sightseeing.

Payments with credit/debit cards

Foreigners living and visiting in Guizhou can use their foreign bank cards with logos such as UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and others at various locations including attractions, supermarkets, stores, airport and hotels where direct payments with foreign cards are accepted. QR payments enabled by overseas mobile payment platforms

Overseas personnel in Guizhou can use their overseas mobile payment platforms to scan the UnionPay QR code provided by merchants for making payments.

1.Residents of Hong Kong and Macao can directly use their respective versions of UnionPay App,ICBC Macao,or other local mobile payment platforms to scan the merchant's UnionPay QR code for making payments in Guizhou.

2.Foreign residents can scan the merchant's UnionPay QR code and present the QR code to complete the payment in Guizhou. They need to first add overseas UnionPay cards with nearly 180 overseas mobile payment platforms such as K PLUS (the mobile banking app of Katek Bank of Thailand) and Never Pay (a payment platform in South Korea).

Bank account services

Overseas personnel in Guizhou may, according to their own conditions, handle financial services such as opening a bank account at any bank outlet in the whole province with the following valid documents:

Cash payment

1.A part of bank branches and ATMs support the withdrawal of RMB cash or foreign currency exchange to RMB using overseas bank cards. Overseas visitors to Guizhou can hold valid ID documents and overseas bank cards to conduct cash transactions, and use cash to make payment after withdrawing cash.

ATM machines support banks that withdraw RMB cash from overseas bank cards：Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)，Agricultural Bank of China (ABC)，Bank of China，China Construction Bank (CCB)，Bank of Communications (BOCOM)，China Merchants Bank，Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (SPD BANK)，China Everbright Bank and China Guangfa Bank (CGB)(Continuous updates).

2.Please bring your valid ID document and foreign currency cash to the foreign currency exchange agency to conduct exchange transactions, and pay in cash after withdrawal. Please keep the exchange receipt for redemption of foreign currency.
